Earlier, Laxmi had alleged that the hospital kept back her baby, as she could not pay the hospital dues Jaiprakaksh Hospital in-charge, Suman Sharma, told Hindustan Times on Thursday: “On Wednesday night, Bhangel Police Chowki in-charge Satveer Singh came here with the baby’s mother and one Sher Singh, who claimed to be an advocate, and asked that the baby be handed over to them. We have not taken any money from her (Laxmi).”

Bhangel Police Post in-charge Satveer Singh confirmed: “The baby was handed over to the mother. She had filed a complaint against the hospital and has not made any payment to the hospital.”

Laxmi meanwhile told HT on Wednesday that Jaiprakash Hospital gave her a bill of Rs 11,000 after the baby's birth on July 4. She said she could not pay the amount as she was carrying only Rs 2,000 with her. Laxmi claimed that the hospital staff told her she would get her son only when she paid the dues.

Laxmi said she was allowed to visit the baby thrice a day to feed him.

But she claimed that for the last one week, she had not been allowed even that. Jaiprakash Hospital officials, however, claimed that Laxmi had left the baby at the hospital since her second husband did not want the boy, who was her offspring from a previous marriage.
