Vacant posts at the Noida authority are taking a huge toll on development projects. The vacuum is not only limited to offices of chairman and chief executive officer. The other top posts left vacant after a regime-change shake-up are: engineer-in-chief, chief maintenance engineer (CME), CME (water), heads of residential (individual) plot and flat departments and head of one of the two enforcement wings.
The Noida authority has a tender committee comprising a chief project engineer, CME and CME (water). Because of the posts of two CMEs remaining vacant, no new tenders are being floated.
Payments of execution agencies working with various departments are stuck. New allocations have not been made. Tenders for various road projects worth R50 crore are stuck. "First elections halted the pace of development in the city and now vacant posts are taking their toll," admitted an official.
Yadav Singh held the posts of engineer-in-chief, chief maintenance engineer (CME) and CME (water).
When the government changed, Hom Singh replaced him. NP Gautam was in-charge of residential (individual) plot and flat departments. RS Yadav also replaced him. But even Hom Singh and RS Yadav were relieved of their charges. Since then these key posts have remained vacant.
