Under pressure from all the corners over serial killings in Noida the state government on Wednesday placed under suspension three police officers including the former SSP Gautam Budha Nagar Peeyush Mordia and dismissed from service the six policemen who have remained posted as incharge of police stations and police out posts there in the past two years.
Those suspended include the SSP Ghaziabad (former GB Nagar) Peeyush Mordia, the ASP Swamitra Yadav and CO Sevak Ram Yadav. Those dismissed from service include four sub inspectors incharges of Nithari police out post Rajeev Baliyan, Kanwar pal Singh, Vinod Pandey and Simranjeet Kaur. Two Inspectors SHOs of police station Sector 20 Noida RN Singh Yadav and Deepak Chaturvedi have also been placed under suspension.
Chief Secretary Naveen Chandra Bajpai at a hurriedly convened press conference said the action against them had been taken on the basis of report of the two member committee that the state government had sent to Noida for an on the spot inquiry. Bajpai said the two member committee comprising the Home Secretary AK Sinha and the ADG Law and Order AC Sharma has held the policemen responsible for the laxity committed in dealing with the cases of children now found murdered there.
A case may be registered against the policemen if so needed, said the Principal Secretary Home Satish Agarwal who along with the DGP Bua Singh was present at the press conference. Chief Secretary said further action would follow once the state government studied the report of the two-member committee. The chief minister has also announced to increase the compensation being given to the families of the children who have been identified.
Earlier the chief minister had asserted that the state government was not averse to ordering a CBI inquiry to probe the incident. Chief Minister said the district police and the STF were working jointly to work out the case. The state government would look into the report of inquiry committee and take an appropriate decision on the issue of ordering a CBI probe into the issue, he said.
Meanwhile the Congress Legislature Party Leader Pramod Tiwari visited the Nithari village on Wednesday. Tiwari said the Congress would not accept anything less than a CBI inquiry. Tiwari also demanded a compensation of at least Rs 10 lakh and service to one of the family members of children killed there.
