Noida will launch a plot scheme for nursing homes that were shut after a Supreme Court order on December 5, 2011. The scheme will benefit thousands of residents living in urban areas.
At present, the authority is preparing a list of plots available in both old and developing sectors. The scheme will be announced in two months. As per the plan, the authority will allot plots measuring 250 sqm, 500 sqm and 1,000 sqm to nursing home owners through draw of lots.
“We are inspecting all the sectors to identify plots. We will draft a list of the available and ready-to-be allotted plots by Friday. It will be submitted to the chief executive officer in the next week for further action,” said a senior authority official.
Plots will be allotted to nursing homes with 10-30 beds.
The authority says it has a few plots in developed posh sectors, while some will be available in developing sectors.
“A plot will be allotted to a nursing home, if it meets the mandatory conditions with regard to fire-fighting, parking facility and other building bye-laws,” said the official.
The apex court's order had affected around 100 clinics and 50 nursing homes. The Supreme Court had suggested that the authority should come up with a plot scheme for nursing homes. But despite the continued efforts of doctors, it did not assure them a plot. Nursing home owners had assumed that they would not get plots. The move is likely to amuse them.
“We tried to talk to the CEO about the issue many time. If authority comes up with this scheme, it will be beneficial not only to doctors but also to residents. Smaller nursing homes in urban areas offer treatment at cheaper rates compared to bigger hospitals. However, it will be better if the authority offers plots measuring 250-500 sqm. Bigger plots will be out of reach for affected doctors,” said Dr HC Bisaria, a doctors' representative.
