A day after HT reported that Noida has become a safe haven for "outside" criminals to execute murders, hide kidnapped victims or simply take refuge, the city police have initiated a slew of set-right measures.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Jyoti Narayan said on Tuesday, "We have held a meeting with the South Delhi police to ensure criminals don't benefit from the fact that the two cities share borders. We are exchanging lists of criminals wanted in both cities. The idea is to have a joint action plan."

The meet resolved that in view of the similarity in pattern of crime and operation of inter-state criminal gangs, there was a need to have better coordination and perspective plans. Noida policemen will have a full-fledged "border police meeting" next week.

"Such meetings are a must in today's context," the SSP said. He admitted no border police meeting was held ever since he took charge in early May. Precisely to address these issues, a meeting was held early this month at the zonal police headquarters in Meerut. Meerut IG Rajnikant Mishra said, "Instructions have been issued to all district police chiefs to coordinate among themselves and report to the zonal headquarters in the event of a crime, with the potential to entail border issues, taking place on as-it-happens basis."
