THE NORTH Central Railwaymen’s Union (NCRU) will serve strike notice to the general manager NCR and GM Railway Electrification on February 7 and go on an indefinite strike from March 1 in support of its 20-point charter of demands.

Despite the Prime Minister’s statement that the government would consider setting up of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, there had been no progress in resolving several pending demands. The demand for grant of interim relief to the employees had not been conceded yet. Despite the staff federations’ keenness to reach a negotiated settlement on the charter of demands, there was no response from the government which compelled the NCRU to decide to serve the strike notice, said regional secretary of NCRU and convever of JCM SK Mishra.
He said that a rally would be taken out at 12 pm from the AEN office to the office of GM (NCR) via Nawab Yusuf Road, GMRE office, DRM office, PD Tandon Park, Subhash Square, Hanuman Mandir and Pani Ki Tanki before handing the strike notice to the GM (NCR) at 4 pm.
