THE NORTHERN parts of the State are in grip of severe cold wave with the temperature plunging well below normal. In other parts of the State too, both day and night temperatures dropped sharply.
Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa and Hoshangabad divisions are facing cold wave conditions and temperature in Gwalior and Khajuraho plummeted to 3.0 degrees on Sunday. Bhopal also experienced one of the coldest days with
minimum temperature going down to 7.4 degrees.
The days are also quite cold all over the State with maximum temperatures remaining well below normal. Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre Dr D P Dubey said that the cold wave conditions would persist for at least another two days under the influence of heavy snowfall and severe cold wave conditions in Northern India.
He mentioned that thankfully the wind pattern over Bhopal is Northeasterly. If it were dead northerly, the minimum temperatures here would have also gone down to around 4.0 degrees.
Citizens braved cold conditions on Sunday with both day and night temperatures remaining four degrees below normal. People came out during late afternoon to enjoy the sunshine as the cloud cover, which was persisting since last two days, disappeared. Despite being Sunday, roads became deserted early in night.
