Bollywood parties up a storm, but stays silent on Modi’s suspension.

Even two days ago, Twitter, Facebook and the blogosphere were abuzz with Bollywood rooting for Lalit Modi. But ever since the former IPL chief was shown the door by the Board of Cricket Control in India [BCCI], B-town netizens have gone noticeably blank.

“Raj and I empathise with ur situation. B strong B positive,” posted Shilpa Shetty on Twitter on Saturday. The same day when Shah Rukh Khan backed the ousted IPL chief. But not a word since Sunday night. Those who still stand by Modi, choose to be rather careful. Wrote author Chetan Bhagat on Twitter, “Lalit Modi can add real value to Indian cricket,” clarifying that he isn’t a fan of “any personality in the IPL” but only “cares about Indian cricket”.

On Sunday night, hours before Modi was given marching orders, stars Shahid Kapoor and Bipasha Basu turned up the heat at the IPL grand finale. Later, on the pitch, MS Dhoni’s snatched victory from Sachin Tendulkar in his own backyard! Sachin’s fans were clearly heartbroken.

Actor R Madhavan, who was rooting for Dhoni’s men, tweeted, “Feel really bad for Sachin, he so deserved the glory. brave man.”Anxious Tweeple trying to find out about Modi’s fate also jammed Twitter briefly.
