According to agriculture department sources, damage to standing and harvested crops has taken place only in Bhopal and Jabalpur division and this, too, is limited to less than five per cent.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Agriculture Director R S Manral said there had been no rains or hailstorm in Gwalior and Sagar division.

In Ujjain division, some areas of Mandsaur district had experienced rains. Similarly, hailstorm accompanied by rains was experienced in areas of Ujjain, Mahidpur, Ratlam and Neemuch as well. But, it has done virtually no damage to crops.
In areas under Indore division, some rounds of drizzles were experienced in Indore district while hailstorm and thundershowers hit Khargone district.

Director agriculture said instead of damaging crops, rains had come as a boon for farmers in unirrigated areas of Malwa and Nimar region since water scarcity was a common problem there.

On the other hand, crops in some areas of Bhopal division particularly Badi in Raisen district and Harda may have been damaged but not much, he said.

Sagar and Rewa divisions have remained unaffected from unusual rains and hailstorms at several other places in the State. There were reports of damage to crops from Bhopal and Jabalpur division but its magnitude was very small and there was nothing to worry, said Manral.
