Noted Marathi litterateur Vijay Tendulkar is "gravely ill" and is admitted at a hospital in Pune, hospital sources said on Sunday.

The 80-year-old playwright is suffering from mysthenia graeis and has been undergoing treatment at the Prayag Hospital in Pune for the past five weeks, they said.

However, the sources denied reports that Tendulkar had passed away early on Sunday.
"He was examined at around 1000 hrs. He is gravely ill", the sources added.
