Taking cues from the European culture, with no Indian inspirations, Manju & Bobby Grover’s 2006 collection saw a mélange of styles. Pleats, flare, trims, pin tucking gave their line an edgy look and feel.

Empire line tunics, boleros and shrugs were some of the striking separates. There were swishy kilts that had lace lining on the inside of nets and looked quite cool. Like always, this year too the duo’s line saw hard-core womanliness, as they left little space to explore their creativity.

Cleavage revealers like the low cut tops, which were free from top and fitted on the bottom were also a rage. Also, the strappy corsets and coats with floral patchwork worn over hot pants and bra-tops looked desirable. The designers chose a rich line of colours for their ensembles. These like sensuous burgundy, rich olive greens, kissable plums and seductive chocolate browns.

Overall, it was a line with an international look, but no dash of Indianness to them. The question that then triggers off in the mind is: Will it impress the buyers?
