It’s almost ironic. Welsh rock sextet Lost Prophets faced ridicule before for their low-slung nu metal jeans and their DJ scratching sounds. In their second album, Start Something, which they seemed to have been under considerable pressure to create, nu metal gives way to pop metal and turns out to be pretty good. The pervading sound through the album is that of men clinking glasses and exchanging hearty backslaps because they’ve made an album that’s truly them and is commercially viable. The Lost Prophets songs are, essentially a lot better than expected. It may be their collective hardcore or thrash metal backgrounds but the album makes an impact. Make A Move has a clean-crunch Metallica guitar break and spazzy ending. They are, unquestionably, a changed band except for the odd I Don’t Know, which is a light ballad that wanders off into a camp electro-ending, which bleeds into the next track. Start Something may not be a masterpiece by any strict critical yardstick, but it’s the Lost Prophets’ triumph. And if you love headbanging stuff then go for this one.

Yet another remix album fresh off the shelf. And there are no pretensions about this one again. You have the proverbial scantily clad, bosom-heaving, butt-shaking models (this time around it’s Mohabbat Hai Mirchi girl Rakhi Sawant in a crochet top doing a Pardesiya) giving old Hindi film songs a dash of spice, literally. If you thought Chod Do Aanchal was just a black and white classic hit, then blink again. When Negar Khan flaunts her perfect figure in a suitably revealing sari and lipsyncs to Chod Do.. it’s good time-pass if you like to feast your eyes on sexy models and ignore the music. Pick on this one if you are very bored.
