THE STF gunned down a notorious criminal following an encounter near Jhunsi on Tuesday. The criminal was identified as Santosh Singh alias Rinku, resident of Rampur Bujurg village in Salempur area of Deoria district.

Acting upon a tip off, STF CO Ashutosh Dwivedi and S-I Atul Singh took position along with their team near Rahimapur School near Jhunsi. Around 3 pm the police team noticed a black Hero Honda coming from Phoolpur side. When asked to stop, the rider opened fire. The cops also returned fired, killing him on the spot.
The STF team recovered a foreign made pistol and a bike from his possession.
Cops said Santosh was involved in several heinous crimes and was wanted in around 30 cases including 7 cases of murder. He carried a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head.
Arrest : Kareli police nabbed Sheshdhar, accused in the murder of Dr Sanjay Singh under Kareli police station. According to SSP Vijay Singh Meena, Sheshdhar, a resident of Karedaha admitted his involvement in the murder of Dr Singh.
Sheshdhar informed the police that he along with Dal Bahadur and Jhalli, presently in jail, planned to rob Dr Singh and shot at him when he tried to resist.

Accident: Two persons died while another sustained injuries in a road accident on Monday night.
Budhai Lal (45), son of Jagdev and Daya Shankar (25), son of Budhai Lal, of Kaushambi district died on the spot while Daya Shanker’s father Budhai Lal (65) was admitted to SRN Hospital. The accident took place when their motorbike was hit by a speeding truck near Kailashpur Bharucha under Saraiakil police station.The driver fled with the killer truck. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
