WITH ONLY a few months left for the Vidhan Sabha polls it’s time for realignment and formation of new political alliances. In a step toward this direction the Indian Justice Party (IJP) and People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Wednesday decided to form a Dalit-Muslim front. The new front will be part of the VP Singh-led Jan Morcha.
Talking to the mediapersons national president of the Indian Justice Party Dr Udit Raj said some political parties were trying to exploit the Dalit and Muslim communities to serve their vested interests. Now both the communities had decided to join hands and fight for their cause. “The front will raise the issues like non-implementation of the rights guaranteed to Dalits in the Constitution, backlog of vacancy for the Dalits against various government posts and possession of the land given to the members of the Dalit community” he said.
Focusing on the strategy of the front Udit Raj said we would organise meetings, conferences and rallies in various districts of the state. On fielding candidates in various Vidhan Sabha constituencies, he said the bigger umbrella group, the Jan Morcha, would decide about it. Chairman of the PDF Mufti Abul Irfan Firangi Mahali said the PDF and the IJP had decided to launch a campaign for uniting the people who were facing almost similar economic, educational, social and political situations. “The forum will not only ensure justice to these targeted groups but also work for the overall development of the nation”, he said.
Secretary general of the PDF Nehaluddin said though the government had announced that members of the Muslim community would be recruited in government jobs, merely two per cent of Muslims were recruited in the police force.
