The administration has taken the initiative to curb rising cases of land fraud. Now, residents will have idea about the current status of their properties. The stupendous task is likely to be completed by March next year.

“We took the initiative to prevent innocent residents from being victims of land frauds. For the successful completion of the process, all the old documents will be scanned first. In the next step, the registration system would be integrated to land records so that people could know the status of their land,” said deputy commissioner PC Meena.

The administration has records of nearly 100 years and the documents have started crumbling. In order to preserve all the records, the administration has started the process to keep the documents on computers by scanning them properly.

Meena said, “I know it is difficult, but I have taken this project on a priority basis. I want to complete it in next three months.”

“In last four days, we have registered three FIRs in land related cases. Once the project gets complete, such frauds can be checked,” Meena added.

The authorities are also planning to organise land mutation camps in the coming year to enable the people to get their mutations registered. During the ongoing process of computerisation of the land records it came to light that a number of mutations were pending in various areas of Gurgaon. Residents complained about harassment at the hands of revenue officials.
