With the ever-increasing health consciousness of Mumbaikars comes yet another healthy dabba service in the city. Catering to a niche crowd, CrossFitOM Zone meals are prepared on the principles of Zone Diet. This regimen believes in consuming calories from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, in the ratio of 40:30:30.

“The meal is calculated according to a person’s weight and body fat. Each meal consists of blocks, wherein one block constitutes 7g of protein, 9g of carbs and 1.5g of fat. Depending upon their requirement, each person must have a set number of blocks during five equally-spaced meals every day,” says Dheepesh Bhatt, owner of CrossFit Dabbas.

Orders need to be placed 24 hours in advance at this dabba service. With breakfast, lunch and dinner priced at a sum of Rs. 1,000, the meals are sure to burn a hole in your pocket. “The Zone Diet is not a fad. It is more a part of your lifestyle than losing weight through starvation and then putting it back on. It is for a niche market and not everybody can afford it,” says Bhatt.

The food is packed in reheatable, vacuum-sealed containers. An ideal breakfast tray consists of an egg, a toast and a portion of fruit. Lunch includes a portion of fish or chicken, a slice of cheese, a few nuts and a fruit, while dinner consists of chicken stew. Vegetarians can substitute meat with soy. “The oils used to cook the meat are according to specifications. It’s all about the weight, including number of eggs and weight of chicken. Even zucchini, onions, garlic and pepper are weighed as to a person’s requirements. The quality is important. Only American rye brown bread or regular whole grain bread is used,” says Jatin Mehta, Director of Suryaditya Wellness, the kitchen that cooks and delivers the food.

And how effective are these meals in keeping you healthy? “In the past, people who follow the Zone Diet religiously have lost weight, and become fit overall.

This diet is ideal for those who are working out and want to keep their body toned,” says Mehta.
