IT SEEMS that setting records in the field of music has caught the attention of all the budding and young artists of Indore. The only difference this time was that instead of solo performers, it was a group of eight artists who traveled non-stop from Indore to Dewas singing bhajans and carrying instruments on motorcycles on Monday.
Keyboard player Deepesh Jain, who was one among the group, which began the 45-km journey from Bada Ganpati Chouraha in Indore to Dewas (Tekri) told Hindustan Times over telephone after he reached Dewas, “Many fresh talents from the City are trying out new things, so some of us, who have been performing for quite some time now, also thought of going for it”.
Deepesh, incidentally, had also accompanied Akansha Jachak for a few hours during her 61-hour non-stop singing programme recently. The other members of the group were Kapil Rathore (octopad player), Sanjay Rathore (singer), Rekha Rathore, Master Romy, Master Rocky, Pawan Rathore (dholak player) and Rajesh Mishra (guitarist).
The coordinator for this journey, J L Rathore, informed that the group had not yet posted any claim for world record but they had made a video CD of the whole journey. The group sang 35 Bhajans and chanted mantras with music all the way to Dewas.
Most of the members of this group have performed live shows or recorded music for albums before. The group, now, plans to set out on a similar singing journey to Pavagarh, Maihar and Vaishno Devi in the near future. As the current trend in the City goes, many more such groups can be expected to come up with announcements of similar journeys
