AFTER STATE Minister Shailendra Pratap Singh alias Lalai Yadav, it is the turn of Lucknow Vikas Pradhikaran Karamchari Sangh’s attempt to put LDA in the dock.
In a memorandum to LDA Vice Chairman BB Singh, the employees’ union has raised objection to “extravagant” expenditure on parks in the past five years.
Like their minister of state, Housing, who had sought LDA’s reply on no less than 19 queries in his very first review meeting earlier this month, the Karamchari Sangh too has shot off 14-point questionnaire to their bosses. “Around 35 per cent of the total income of the LDA is being spent on the maintenance of these parks and unlike in the past the State Government too has stopped providing the annual grant for their maintenance,” states the memorandum signed by union president Awdhesh Kumar Singh.
The union has also sought information on the steps and action taken by the committee formed under the LDA secretary to probe the alleged anomalies in development works executed by the departmental construction unit (DCU).

{{/usCountry}}Besides demands related to their pension/provident fund and time scale, other issues raised by the Sangh include ‘excessive’ administrative expenditure by allegedly giving undue facility of vehicles and telephones to engineers and department’s officials. The union has set June 15 deadline for meeting its demands. The LDA VC when contacted said he was to see the memorandum adding that any decision on service matter related issues would have to be taken by the State Government.
