A 21-year-old woman from Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh has pinned her hopes on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to play real life ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ to bring back her brother Salman who has been stranded in Pakistan for over two decades.
With the Centre and human rights activists making efforts to bring back Geeta, a hearing-and-speech impaired Indian woman stranded in Pakistan for at least 15 years, Nida’s hopes of getting her brother back has brightened.
According to Mohd Qayam, a local resident, Nida’s father Haji Viqar, a businessman, had married Salma, a resident of Karachi, in 1984. The couple has seven children — Danish, Nida, Hina, Zeeshan, Salman, Kamran and Rehan.
In 1993, Viqar went to Pakistan with his wife Salma and son Salman, then two-year-old. However, Salman fell sick there and the couple had to return as their visas were expiring. They left the child with his maternal grandparents in Karachi.
In 1995, Viqar again went to Pakistan but Salman, then five-year-old, failed to identify his parents, hence could not accompany his father.
Inspired by the Salman Khan’s movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Nida said she has written a letter to the PM Modi, requesting him to bring back her brother to India.
