Their bodies were found near their fields at Johniawaas village in Farrukhnagar (23 kms from the city) on Sunday morning.

The police have registered a case of murder against unknown persons and suspect that the assailants had an old enmity with the couple. The police have ruled out robbery as a motive as all the belongings of the couple, including their motorcycle, were lying untouched.

According to Farrukhnagar station house officer Jitender Rana, the NSG commando, Manoj Kumar (27), and his wife, Rekha, had left for their fields on their motorcycle on Saturday morning but did not return home till late evening.

"Someone passing by their fields spotted the bodies and informed the police on Sunday morning. Primary investigations suggest that the couple died of bullet injuries. Two gunshots had hit Manoj and one his wife in her head and duo probably died of excessive bleeding," the SHO said.

When asked about the motive behind the murder of the couple, SHO Jitender Rana said that the couple may have had old enmity with someone who wanted to kill them.
