THE TAKSHASHILA campus of the Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalay (DAVV) at RNT Marg seems to have turned into a demonstration ground with one or the other student and employee unions taking up cudgels against the university administration.
A similar scene was repeated again when the premise rented with sloganeering indulged in by National Students Union of India (NSUI) activists today.
NSUI leaders Kamal Verma and Gopal Kodwani said that their demonstration was aimed at cautioning the university administration to put an end to instances of cheating, not changing the examination centres and to ensure that colleges with dubious track records are not made examination centres.
The students wanted to petition the Vice Chancellor but were stopped at the gates of his office by university security guards on which they are said to have turned aggressive. The university immediately called in police force to handle the situation, which infuriated the student leaders resulting in a renewed and increased tempo of sloganeering.
The main gist of the slogans also got diverted and instead of focussing on the demands at hand turned against the V-C who was termed a dictator and hypocrite. The students demanded that V-C CS Chaddha come downstairs to meet them but had to go back without meeting him. They submitted the petition to university authorities.

{{/usCountry}}All this came close on the heels of the university starting three new examination centres for commerce stream students from this year. These private centres include Swati Jain College, International College and IPS Academy. About 650 commerce students would take their examination here.
However, while the university made one centre for MCom students the students of ILVA College, IKDC, Vidyasagar and Mahewshwari would have to go to different centres with the university reasoning that they do no have commerce students in large numbers.
