NSUI forces closure of colleges

NATIONAL STUDENTS Union of India (NSUI) activists today forced closure of prominent City-based colleges in support of their protest against the recent murder of Professor Sabharwal during student body elections in Madhav GACC, Ujjain.

NATIONAL STUDENTS Union of India (NSUI) activists today forced closure of prominent City-based colleges in support of their protest against the recent murder of Professor Sabharwal during student body elections in Madhav GACC, Ujjain.

NSUI district president Mukesh Yadav and general secretary Anup Shukla claimed that their protest had found silent support from the teaching fraternity deeply hurt by the incident.

The students in general echoed the chorus of not being the types to have committed such an outrage lent their support in a show of respect towards their teachers. Apart from the sentiment of teachers and students rains also helped them in their efforts.

The activists wearing black ribbons and bands and waving flags of protest gathered at Bada Ganpati Square in the morning from where they proceeded to different colleges in the City.

Khalsa College, Vaishnav Commerce College, Cloth Market College, Sanskrit College, New and Old GDC, MKHS Gujrati Girls College, Gujrati Commerce and Science Colleges, Christian college, Holkar Science College, Priyadarshini College and Government Arts and Commerce College (GACC) were closed down by the activists.

Acting on the call given by the State Congress for a day-long protests ‘bandh’ (closure) they appealed to the public to give their cooperation in the name of traditional respect given by the society to teachers. The activists announced holding street corner plays on September 5.
