THE REGIONAL Technical Centre of FPA India, Bhopal, organised a two-day training programme on HIV/AIDS for nurses, paramedical staff and field workers with a view to equip them with knowledge and develop skills on HIV/AIDS counselling infection prevention and bringing behavioral changes so that they could impart quality services in their fields.
The programme was inaugurated by Ms Shakuntala Sharma, member, Human Rights Commission, MP, who stressed on the important role of paramedics in the control and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The welcome address was given by RTC coordinator Pawan Mehta.
Various issues on HIV/AIDS were covered during the training programme such as basic information on HIV& AIDS sexually transmitted infection, HIV/AIDS counselling, pre- and post-test counselling, infection prevention, care & support of people living with HIV/AID and role of paramedics in bringing behavioral changes.
The participants who attended the training programme were from different NGOs and paramedical institutes. The experts who provided their expertise were Dr U C Yadav, Joint Director MPSACS; Dr Rajendra Rajput, Assistant Professor, PSM; Dr I C Tiwari, Professor (Retd), Community Medicine, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU; Dr Joyti Benawri and Ms Jayashree Kumar from FPA India, Regional Technical Centre, Bhopal.Concluding remarks were made by Ms Kiran Awasthi, president, FPA India, Bhopal Branch, and certificates were distributed to the participants.
