State-wide agitation of nurses has started to take its toll on the emergency and routine functioning of Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital and other district hospitals.

Due to nurses decision to do only one shift SRN Hospital closed admission of all the fresh cases.
The surgeries also got affected due to the agitation. Only limited surgeries of very serious patients were conducted. Most of the serious patients and accident victims were referred to the other hospitals. Only OPD was conducted at the hospital on Saturday.
The patients admitted to the hospital few days back had to face a lot of difficulty in getting injection and other items from the hospital. Their attendants had to repeatedly request pharmacists and junior doctors to get medicines from the hospital store.
Junior doctors association president Dr Phul Kumar said they have stopped admission of serious patients because they need 24-hour care. "In the absence of nurses we may not be able to take proper care of them in late evening and night. Due to the same reason less number of surgeries were conducted on Saturday," he added.
Meanwhile the administrations of Beli and Dufferin Women's Hospitals are also facing problem in managing a huge rush of indoor patients. "We have not stopped admission, but were facing difficulty in managing indoor patients in late hours," said superintendent-in-charge of Dufferin Hospital Dr Meenu Sagar.
