The AGP manifesto has promised to give rice at Rs 2 per kg to BPL families.

“If we form the next government, we will provide rice at Rs 2 per kg to BPL families. The quantity of rice per month to BPL families will be 35 kg,” said Chandramohan Patowary, AGP chief.

The BJP too has promised cheap rice and wheat — 35 kg of rice at Rs 3 per kg and 35 kg of wheat at Rs 2 per kg each month.

Last year, the Congress-led government had introduced the Mukhyamantrir Anna Suraksha Yojana, a scheme under which BPL families are provided 35kg of rice each month at Rs 6 per kg.
