CONTINUING INTERNECINE tussle between two senior officers of Food and Civil Supplies Department turned into a street fight on Monday when a poster alleging that one officer was promoting corruption appeared in the city. But by evening the senior officer settled score by getting his rival transferred to an insignificant post.
The tussle between principal secretary DC Lakha and commissioner food and civil supplies Satyajit Thakur has divided the Food and Civil Supplies Department into two groups.
According to sources, the group supported by Thakur indulged in a poster war against Lakha. The group supported by Lakha retaliated and got Thakur transferred to Revenue Board, Allahabad.
According to officials of Food and Civil Supplies Department, the tussle between Lakha and Thakur started in August last. Firing the first salvo at Lakha, the group led by Thakur alleged that on direction of Lakha advertisements were released to a magazine ‘Mahila Utthan’.
Lakha group again retaliated and alleged that on Thakur’s direction departmental officials posted in the field had launched a membership drive for an organisation supported by the latter. Funds were also collected in the name of the membership drive, the officers alleged.
Recently the officers were involved in tussle over some official files. While Lakha directed Thakur to send the files to his office, the latter refused to oblige him.
