As they say, your college is not just your alma mater but a brand that you wear for the rest of your life. Once you are a part of the cool DU crowd, then showing off about college is a big deal. And one obvious way of doing it is through your college tees and sweat shirts.
“My college sweat shirt was my most priced possession during college days. I got it in my second year and used to wear it almost every second day during winters. I still wear it sometimes and remember my college days,” says Richa Bagla, who passed out from Lady Shri Ram College in 2007.
“Your college T-shirts are your pride. We wear them to other colleges when we go there for competitions or to perform,” says Akshit Jain of Sri Venkateshwara College.
While some colleges just keep it simple by printing the name and the logo of the college on the tees, others fill it up with nice interesting trivia about college or any particular quote or picture that defines their college. “All winners belong to Hans Raj, biggest example SRK,” reads one of the sweat shirts of Hans Raj College. “girLSRock,” reads the T shirt of Lady Shri Ram college.
But who gets to decide the look and colour of these T-shirts? “Whenever the new session begins, we put up a notice on the students union board asking for preferences in terms of colour and style, and the majority usually ends up being the final choice,” says the student president of Hindu College.
