The national carrier of Oman, earlier this year, launched its eighth destination in India, Jaipur, and became the first foreign airline to operate flights to this tourist city.

"India is an important destination for Oman Air, and one of its most profitable sectors," a senior airline official said.

"With India's growing prominence in the world in terms of economic growth and immense potential in areas such as health, education, tourism and information technology, there is enormous scope for higher passenger traffic between Oman and India," the official added.

Mohammed bin Salim Al Bulushi, Country Manager of Oman Air, said, "India is one of the fastest growing travel markets in the world today. More importantly, it's an important destination witnessing a strong economic growth and attracting overwhelming numbers of tourists."

On May 3, Oman Air inaugurated its flights to Lucknow. At present, Oman Air operates direct flights to destinations such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Lucknow, and Jaipur.

Oman Air recently celebrated its sixth anniversary of operations to Kochi.
