A day after unknown gunmen killed a youth in north Kashmir’s Sopore area, chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday lashed out at separatists calling them “bloody hypocrites” for not condemning the incident.
A police spokesman said unknown militants fired upon Mohsin Ahmad Wani (35), a resident of Jalalabad, Sopore, on Sunday at Kralteng, Sopore, 55 km north of Srinagar. Wani was living as a tenant in Kralteng. “Wani died on the spot,” said the spokesman.
Sopore superintendent of police Altaf Khan told the HT that “no plausible reason has surfaced during the investigations on why the militants would kill Wani”. “It could a normal crime case where upper ground militants were hired by someone,” said Khan.
The killing left chief minister Abdullah aghast as no separatist condemned the killing. “Mohsin was a businessman, doing business in Sopore. Shot by militants last night. No wonder my TL (twitter link) is silent as it wasn't by army/police," wrote Abdullah on the Twitter.
The chief minister went on saying: “A young man shot dead in Sopore yesterday for no apparent fault of his. Where the hell are all the irate voices??? Bloody hypocrites”.
