Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has dismissed the predictions made by various exit polls as a “great time pass”.
"The only exit poll that matters is the one that is slated for Friday (the day Lok Sabha results will be out), the rest are all great time pass," he wrote on microblogging site twitter.
The exit polls aired on various TV channels on Monday, have predicted a dismal performance for the coalition partner Congress at the Centre and Abdullah’s own National Conference in the state.
While most exit polls are giving two seats each to BJP in Jammu region and PDP in the valley, NC has been reduced to just one seat compared to three in last elections.
The polls are predicting an easy win for BJP-led NDA in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Reacting to the tweets, BJP has called Abdullah’s tweets “time pass”.
Putting a question mark on the credibility of the polls in view of the vast difference between the surveys in terms of the number of seats won by parties, Abdullah says, “So one channel gives Cong only two (seats) in Rajasthan & another gives them 14. Did these channels cover the same election?”
Earlier, Abdullah had proposed that politicians should stop talking “till the results are out”. “Starting tomorrow evening, all politicians should take a vow of silence till the 16th morning. This country has had enough of us,” Omar wrote on May 11.
Abdullah has half a million followers on twitter.
