PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the state government was trying to prevent people from meeting the delegation and condemned the government’s decision to re-impose curfew in the entire Valley after a phased relaxation in Srinagar on Saturday.

“The discredited dispensation (Omar Abdullah government) is using desperate and draconian methods against the common man,” she said at a press conference in Srinagar on Sunday.

“The delegation must reach out to leaders of the parties that represent the voice of dissent. It must try to find out the condition of the people,” she said.

Reacting to the allegations, state Rural Development Minister Ali Muhammad Sagar said: “The government is sincere in facilitating the meeting of the delegation with the people who have a say. People interested to meet the delegation can contact the divisional commissioner and law secretary.”

Invitations were extended to the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference, the hardline faction and others.
