Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday lashed out at the media for creating hype. On being asked over the controversy between minister Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzan and chief engineer Muzaffar Lankar, Omar said the media only creates hype instead of doing a balanced journalism.
Talking to the mediapersons after the passing out parade at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy here on Saturday, the chief minister criticised the media for covering one aspect of the controversy only.
He said the chief engineer submitted his resignation but another fact that the issue was resolved within 24 hours and the engineer resumed his duty on Saturday, but no one reported this. He said there is no question of inquiry or action against the minister as the matter has been sorted out.
When asked about Rahul Gandhi's style in Parliament, Omar applauded the former for his aggressive posture and described this a "political transformation of Rahul" and a good sign for the Congress. He is the person who can bind the Congressmen together in these difficult times, he added.

Lauding the role of state police in restoring the normalcy in the state, he assured the full support to the police in making it stronger and highly professional force in the country. Fulfilling two long-pending demands of police regarding the enhancement in ration money and removal of pay anomalies, the chief minister said that the jawans will get Rs 1,000 from April 2014 which will put Rs 70 crore on extra burden on the state government. He also announced for the removal of pay anomalies between a head constable and an assistant sub-inspector.
A batch of 25 recruits, including 9 deputy superintendents of police, 14 sub-inspectors and 2 assistant sub-inspectors passed out on Saturday from the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy and joined the police service. This is the smallest passing out batch from the academy so far.
