National Conference president Omar Abdullah will be sworn in as Jammu and Kashmir chief minister on January 5, official sources said on Wednesday.

A deputy chief minister from the Congress will also be sworn in at the same ceremony at Jammu, they said. Thirty-eight-year-old Omar, who will become the state's youngest chief minister, will fly to Delhi tomorrow to hold consultations with Congress leadership on distribution of other portfolios.

The NC, which bagged 28 seats in the polls, is tying up with the Congress which won 17 seats in the 87-member assembly to form the new government.
