Omar welcomes Centre's decision to raise LPG cap

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the Union petroleum ministry for increasing the cap on subsidised cooking gas cylinders from six to nine per year.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the Union petroleum ministry for increasing the cap on subsidised cooking gas cylinders from six to nine per year.

"Grateful to the Govt of India for accepting states like J&K's request to increase the number of subsidised LPG cylinders," wrote Omar on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The Jammu and Kashmir government was under tremendous pressure from the masses to increase the cap, imposed last year across the country. The Union petroleum ministry on Thursday increased the cap from six to nine cylinders, starting April this year.
