Real Estate company Omaxe Ltd has been awarded contracts by Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIBD) and Punjab Public Works Department for the construction of Modern Jail at Kapurthala and Faridkot involving an estimated cost of Rs. 210 crore.
The build up area of Kapurthala and Faridkot jails would be 6,00,437 sq feet and 6,97,118 sq ft respectively; offer ing the best of security options with four layers of outer boundary and double strayed barrack, said a company statement issued here today.
Speaking on the development, Rohtas Goel, CMD, Omaxe Ltd, said "Securing contract like these are in sync with our well laid plans to strengthen our presence into the country's infrastructure sector and with planned and phased development, we are confident to deliver the project well on time." He further added, "The construction will be a landmark in terms of security with ample facilities making it a modern project of international standards."
Both the jails would have capacity of more than 2,000 inmates.
Each project will have facilities like a 50-bedded hospital, administrative block, training centre cum canteen and library blocks, central watch tower, dispensary, flour mill and workshops. The jail would also have educational facilities, fire fighting system, solar water heater system, rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plant, dual water supply system, and a large green central court with every ward, it said. These premises would also have Temple, Gurdwara, and there would be parking for visitors near the entrance gate, inmates would get drinking water through an RO system and there would be family quarters and rooms for the staff in the hostel. The new jail would also have latest security arrangements like CCTV, mobile jammer, X-ray scanners, access control system, prison management system and visitor management system.
