This doesn’t come as a surprise to us at Hindustan Times, and perhaps to you, too. The Indian Readership Survey, which tracks the readership of newspapers, has once again ranked Hindustan Times as the most widely read newspaper in the Northern region.

According to IRS 2006, Round 1 data (for January to December 2005) released today, Hindustan Times has a readership of 21.26 lakh in Delhi, which is 4.35 lakh more than 16.91 lakh readers of its nearest competitor. HT has grown by a huge 17 per cent over IRS 2005 Round 1.

The leadership is even stronger when we look at Delhi + NCR -- at 23.78 lakh readers HT has a lead of 4.57 lakh over 19.21 lakh of its nearest competitor. It’s not only in Delhi where HT is the undisputed leader.

The Chandigarh edition of HT, too, has recorded a phenomenal growth of 34 per cent, and at 78,000 readers it has a clear lead over its nearest competitor. In June last year, the other industry standard, NRS, had also put HT head-and-shoulders above competition: NRS 2005 had put HT’s readership in Delhi at 19.10 lakh -- a lead of 3.98 lakh.

We are naturally overwhelmed by your trust. On our part, we promise to provide you a newspaper that will not only meet but also exceed your expectations.

Thank you for your support.
