One day later, MGKV takes a U-turn

THE AUTHORITIES of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) have taken a ?U? turn on its earlier stand to postpone the student union election till the implementation of Lingdoh Committee recommendations. MGKV authorities announced on late Friday night that the union election would be held on September 13. The nomination process would be held on September 7. Prof Surendra Singh, faculty member of Sociology department and election officer, on Friday officially declared the date of the election.

THE AUTHORITIES of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) have taken a ‘U’ turn on its earlier stand to postpone the student union election till the implementation of Lingdoh Committee recommendations.

MGKV authorities announced on late Friday night that the union election would be held on September 13. The nomination process would be held on September 7.

Prof Surendra Singh, faculty member of Sociology department and election officer, on Friday officially declared the date of the election.

Prof Singh said that election would be held for the posts of president, vice president, general secretary and library secretary along with eight representatives of different faculties.

He further said that the nomination process would be held on September 7, list of candidates would be declared on September 8 and the election would be held on September 13.

Professor Singh further said that around 6,000 students would exercise their franchise in the election.

The election would be held on old norms of student union election and revised University Bill of September 8, 2003.
