Irfan Chikna killed

THE RAILBAZAAR police gunned down a notorious criminal Irfan Chikna in the wee hours of Monday here at Parachute Factory road, while being brought from Unnao to the city.
In what could be termed as an action sequence right out of a Bollywood flick, Irfan jumped from a moving police vehicle onto the mobike driven by an aide, grabbed his accomplice’s country-made firearm and fired at the police. In retaliation, the police fired at and shot Irfan.
And even though the assault weapon and the mobike used in the drama were confiscated, Irfan’s aide managed to give the slip to the police.
A member of D-39 gang, Chikna was working for Parvez gang. It is noted that recently, Parvez fled from police custody when he was brought from Unnao to be produced in a city court.
A source in the police department said Chikna had gone to Ajmer on a contact job. Acting on a tip-off, police traced Chikna at Unnao and nabbed him. He was being brought to the city to be produces in a court.

On this, SHO Railbazaar Pradeep Tripathi rushed to the spot along with policemen and surrounded Chikna, who at that point of time was engaged in a cross firing with the police personnel who were taking him from Unnao. Meanwhile, senior cops have lauded the efforts of the Railbazaar police in eliminating a dreaded criminal.

{{/usCountry}}According to police, he was wanted by police in several heinous crimes including murder of one Hasan at Colonalganj area. He also murdered an entrepreneur in the same area and fled the spot with Rs 10 lakh.
Over a dozen cases were registered against him in Colonalganj, Bazaria and Anwarganj police stations. Sources said Chikna and Gulam Nabi were main members of the Parvez gang.
After Nabi’s arrest, Chikna became the right hand man of Parvez. Sources said he often used to flee to Nepal whenever the city police put pressure on him as his wife Soni was living there.
SHO Railbazaar Pradeep Tripathi said the criminal carried a reward of Rs 500 on his head.
Raju Kahar, aide flee; Santan shot
A NOTORIOUS criminal was gunned down and two other surrendered before police in a daylight encounter that took place near ITI in Ghatampur on Monday. However, two other criminals of the same gang escaped, taking advantage of narrow lanes in Veerpur village under Ghatampur police station.
Acting on a tip-off that five notorious criminals led by Raju Kahar were heading towards Rajepur village to threaten Ram Pal, (who, according to police, is the husband of Raju Kahar’s mistress), the police soon cordoned off the village around 1 pm on Monday.
The police personnel, who were divided into two teams, challenged the five criminals, Santan Yadav, Raju Yadav, Gore Yadav, Raju Kahar and Raju Chauhan, who were passing through a field.
Amid fierce exchange of firing and hurling of bombs, the miscreants ran towards Raghunathpur and Veerpur villages from Rajepur village.
The police teams followed the criminals upto three kilometres.
At Raghunathpur village, Santan Yadav tried to hide in the field of Munnulal Sonar, but a police team closed in upon him and after a fierce exchange of fire amid presence of a large number of villagers, Santan Yadav was gunned down.
Raju Kahar and Raju Chauhan, who were hiding at some distance from where Santan was killed, came out with their arms up and surrendered before police after seeing that Santan had been killed.
The second police team was chasing Gore Yadav and Raju Yadav, who entered Veerpur village. Though the police cordoned off the entire village and searched every house, the two criminals somehow managed to escape.
After getting information of the encounter in Ghatampur, Senior Superintendent of Police PC Meena, SP (rural) Ratan Srivastava and SP (crime) Shripati Mishra rushed to the spot with several other senior police officials.
Overwhelmed with the achievement of the policemen, SP (rural) announced a cash reward of Rs 2,500 to policemen who took part in the encounter that lasted for over two hours.
