One killed, five injured in Guwahati blast

One person was killed and over five were seriously wounded when a powerful blast took place near a bust street in Guwahati on Tuesday evening.

Police said that the timed device went off around 7:45 pm.

"The bomb was probably was kept in a cycle. Details of the explosion are not immediately available," a senior official said.

The victims were all pedestrians. "The injured have been taken to hospitals," he said.

No rebel group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

"It is too early to pinpoint any militant group at this moment, although the needle of suspicion is towards the United Liberation Front of Asom," the official said.
