"Aakhri phera hai," meaning "it is the last round", was the shouting heard by Lal Babu, coming from the boatman who carried passengers from the other side of the river to the side leading to the city. Lal Babu was a notable businessman who used to go across the river to be in the lap of nature.
The boatman was reminding the people that it was the last round of the boat towards the city shore; and if they missed it, they will have to spend the night on the other side of the river.
When Lal Babu heard these words, he took the "Aakheri phera" to mean the last birth as a human being after 840,000 births in other living species ( Hindu mythology) in which one can break the chain of repeated births and deaths. If he missed it, he may have to repeat the cycle again.
He rushed to the boat and reached the other side; headed towards a temple and was engrossed in prayers immediately. Although a rich man, he did not care for what he was wearing or what he was eating or where he was sleeping. After a few days, his family members came looking for him to return home which he refused; they had no choice but to leave him behind.
His dedication with faith and surrender to the Lord was so intense that he got revelation in a short time. He dedicated his life to the temple which was eventually renovated with the help of many seekers. The temple stands even today in Vrindaban as Lal Babu's temple and is a source of inspiration to many.
