Twelve of India's top junior golfers are travelling to the United States to compete in the International Junior Golf Tour's (IJGT) Tournament of Champions, to be held at the Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Florida, from May 27-30.
The tournament is the year-end competition for the IJGT, which has a schedule of 65 events from September till May. The field will consist of over 200 top junior golfers from around the world. It would not be out of place to mention that past participants include PGA and LPGA stars like Rickie Fowler and Paula Creamer.
The qualifiers began last June with the inaugural season of the Hank Haney IJGT-Asian Circuit. Elite Asian golfers competed in seven events, spanning six countries including India, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan and China. The Asian Tournament of Champions was held in December at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen, China.
The India qualifier was hosted by the Albatross Junior Tour, and those who made the cut include Tarundeep Chadha, Ankur Chadha, Arjun Singh, Gauri Monga, Meher Atwal, Tavleen Batra, Piyush Sangwan, Manu Gandas, Harman Virk, Gurbani Singh, Seher Atwal and Astha Madan.
Given the success of Jeev Milkha Singh and Arjun Atwal, receiving the best training and competition is imperative to reach the next level of collegiate and professional golf.
