The EC has forwarded the petition, referred by President APJ Abdul Kalam, to Ramadoss seeking his response by August 28, EC sources said.

The petition seeking the disqualification of Ramadoss was filed by a retired bureaucrat on the ground that he was holding an office of profit as president of AIIMS.

AIIMS Director P Venugopal, who is at loggerheads with Ramadoss, had earlier sought the minister's disqualification in his petition before the Delhi High Court accusing him of holding an office of profit as AIIMS president.
