UTTAR PRADESH Governor TV Rajeshwar released the new self-learning material for various courses like Diploma in Fashion Designing, Diploma in Textile Designing, Certificate course in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Master of Journalism and Mass Communication, Introduction of Buddhist Religion (UGAT-07) and Master of Arts of Sociology of UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University on Thursday afternoon at the Raj Bhawan in the State capital.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor appreciated the efforts of the University in meeting the need of educational and professional training in the state. He expressed satisfaction over the quality of the self-learning material.
He inquired about the activities of the University and the progress in various fields like strength of students, variety of courses, number of study centres etc.
Prof KN Singh Yadav, Vice-Chancellor of Open University stated that the University has almost doubled the strength of students and study centres. He said, he felt handicapped due to shortage of staff and financial support. He assured even better results, if the university got necessary support. On the occasion Prof Yadav explained the basic themes of the newly introduced courses of studies.
Prof Yadav said the course material on Fashion Designing contains the functioning of the Fashion Industry, Basic Designing and Sketching, Drafting and Pattern Layout, Textile Theories etc.

This course elucidates the printing and designing techniques used in the industry. For the trainees, employment opportunities are available in the textile industry, export houses, garment manufacturing units etc.
Prof Yadav explained that the certificate course in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants is an excellent programme for scientific method of farming of medicinal and Aromatic plants Cultivation and also their medical use etc. The course includes byproducts, extraction, marketing process, seeds and planting etc.
Prof Yadav also said the MJMC programme provides ample opportunity of employment to young generation in various print and electronic media which is the demand of the present times. He said mass-communication was the process of the dissemination of information, ideas, entertainment by tradition media, radio, TV and film etc.
Lav Verma, Principle Secretary to Chancellor, Pradeep Dubey, Additional Legal Adviser, Raj Bhawan, HC Jaiswal, Incharge of Production & Distribution Cell, UPRTOU, Dr Arjun Tiwari, Prof KP Singh and PRO of the University Prabhat Chandra Misra were also present on the occasion.
