Ever since Kochi were awarded an Indian Premier League (IPL) team, they have been in the news for all the wrong reasons. First, it was Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's involvement in the team that created a political stir. Then, differences between the co-owners almost put paid to their chances of owning the team.

The team was christened thrice before the owners finally zeroed in on Kochi Tuskers Kerala. And now that they are a little over a week old into the IPL, it's their team jersey that's attracting all sorts of negative publicity.

An orange trouser and an orange tee with purple hazes is just so bright that it makes the viewers wonder if their television set's colour scheme has gone awry.

But skipper Mahela Jayawardene doesn't mind all the criticism. Minutes after KTK registered their maiden IPL victory by surprising favourites Mumbai Indians, Jayawardene was asked whether he had received any feedback on the team jersey.

Little choice
"I like the colour. It stands out, you know. Brings out the best in you," Jayawardene said.
