Sachin Nandgawale, a resident of Behram Baugh at Jogeshwari, died after getting into a brawl with the accused identified as Prakash Jadhav (26), Puneet Gawda (17) and Sunil Karwar (19).

The three were arrested on Saturday for killing Nandgawale by hitting him on his head when one of his friends, Mahendra Maurya (20) went to an open space to relieve himself. Nandgawale interfered in the brawl between Maurya and the accused, who then killed him, and injured Maurya and witness Arun Yadav.

On Sunday, police presented them in court, where they were remanded to police custody until Friday. “Investigations reveal that apart from Jadhav, who has earlier been arrested for house breaking, the other two do not have police records.

“The three accused are unemployed and often gather at the spot to consume drugs. They have confessed to robbing people’s wallets and gold chains and extorting small amounts, but those cases have not been recorded with us,” Rupwate added.
