Eighty-seven per cent of the 2.3 lakh Class 10 students expected to apply for junior colleges in the city had registered themselves on the online admissions website by Saturday evening, according to the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), which is running the website.
The last date for submitting forms has also been extended by a day to 5.30 pm on July 4, the website said.
The website, fyjc.org.in/mumbai is now working smoothly after collapsing for a few hours on Friday, the first day for filling in the online forms, said Aatul Wadegaonkar, general manager, educational eGovernance, at MKCL.
The website, however, requested students registering on Saturday evening to postpone it to Sunday, so as not to overload the server.
By 6.30 pm on Saturday, 2,02,886 students had registered on the website, of which 66,547 had filled and locked in their forms, Wadegaonkar said.
Some students said they could not access the forms they had left incomplete when the website collapsed on Friday.
Wadegaonkar, however, said if a student had not clicked the ‘lock’ option after filling in the form, he or she ought to be able recover the forms they had begun filling out.
