Over 5,000 employees belonging to Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Friday held a protest in front of the Corporation office in Bangalore, protesting reports criticising it for not 'properly' conducting rescue operations of a five-year-old who was washed away in a drain.

They shouted slogans against a recent report in a English daily criticising the corporation despite the all out efforts made by employees to trace the boy, Abhishek, who accidentally fell into an overflowing drain on Sunday last, Deputy Commssioner of Police (Central Division) G Ramesh said.
The protest was peaceful and the employees dispersed later, he said.
