The number of offers made by the companies has seen a rise, lifting the spirits of students and placement committee alike. “The offers have been more than usual this year. Even on day one, a larger number of students were placed as compared to last year, which indicates a good placement season ahead,” Avijeet Chatterjee, professor-in-charge of placements at IIT B said.

Recruiters say that the growing economy demands fresh untapped talent, which has prompted them to invest in IITians. The largest recruiters so far have been global firms like Microsoft, Visa Inc. and Intel with more than 20 offers each.

While Software and IT majors picked up talent on the first two days, almost 50% of the companies that visited campus on day three were core and manufacturing firms like Toyo, Rolls-Royce, Tensilica, Cypress and GlobalFoundries, among others.

Among international offers, GulfTalent, based in Dubai has made offers of Rs32 lakh per annum to 4 students, the highest on day three. However, some companies did not recruit any student from campus owing to internal issues, like the Pune based company Silverleaf and Bangalore’s Codenation.
