"Congratulations for looking at the fiscal deficit which is so important to attend. There is a good increase in both education and health spending but far from what it should be. India needs to have a quantum jump in both education and health to improve productivity," Lord Paul, Ambassador for Overseas British Business said.

"The extra-spending on infra-structure is good news and so is reduction of customs duty and attention to rural areas which is well deserved. However, lot of these expenditure, lot of times either does not get spent or spent inefficiently. Hope the government will ensure that they get the best value from this expenditure.

"The Freedom of Information Act as mentioned by the Prime Minister will help. But more will need to be done. Overall it is a good budget," the Caparo Group Chairman said.
