The décor’s uninspiring and the music intrusive, but when the food is good, you tend to ignore these irritants. Paatra’s menu is a winner all the way, though at places you may get the feeling that it has been inspired by Fire’s. Where it scores is the thought it spares for the vegetarians check out the Bhunee Chaat and Paratdar Paneer Pasandey, though the Bhanney Khulley has succeeded in giving a bad name to the Old Delhi speciality. The restaurant also has a maharaj from Varanasi to take care of vegetarian palates, so go ahead and sample his home-style Muttar Ka Nimona, Moong Daal Ki Kadi Pakodi, Narangi Aloo and Adraki Gobhi. Non-vegetarians must not miss the Dum Ka Keema (the Hyderabadi challenger of the Galauti Kebab), Chingri Malai Maach (jumbo prawns cooked in a tangy coconut-mustard gravy, the way Bengalis like it) and Nihari.
